I received a very interesting email last night. It is from a nice fan that wants to put together an Unreal Engine Powered Mech game together. Here is what he sent.

Around the time the UT2004 demo released I spent a few good hours ironing out some custom concepts for the Onslaught gametype. Right now, I am still brain storming for more ideas, but I am looking for others to help with this project. Here is a rough sketch of what I have so far.

Weaponary

Hitch Hiker - Quite the resemblence to the old school grapple from the Quake series... But there is a twist! This baby only grapples onto vehicles!

Kogeki (Japanese for Charge Attack) - This is a weapon of true beauty. Made only by the finest of engineers. Its purpose is simple, anti-vehicular attack. Seek and destory. The twist? It shoots 2 funnels that seek the target, easy operation, works just like the Avril, but the funnels shoot beams and last for a perod of 10 seconds. They keep a specific distance from the target, to reduce unfair advantage and give the target the ability to manuever the shots. Either way it takes a skilled pilot to dodge every shot of the Kogeki and I highly doubt such mortals exist anymore.

Mechs.

The Spider - This vehicles name fits its description nicely. Piloting this mech gives the the power of absolute ground melee, and a decent firing power through the claws, one of the bonuses is the ability of jumping great distances.

(ProtoType Delta *for lack of a better name*) This air vehicle resembles a jet. But its main weaponary is two forms, one is a power beam that is fired from the front of the gun, this takes time to charge. The secondary fire is the funnel like guns the rotate around the aircraft, they fire all at once.

(ProtoType X *for lack of a better name*) Designed to be the next generation of a tank. This mech holds up to its name, built for two pilots, it can outrun for machines, and has the advantage of its thrust pack, allowing it to jump quite a distance. This can only be used every 30 seconds due to the fact it consumes quite a huge amount of energy. Its primary pilot controls the movement of the mech and its side gat guns. The seconday pilot has control over the top gat gun and the two top rocket launching panels, making this mech quite a challenge to go up against on foot.

(Transport Protocol) This vehicle opens the door from one point to another. It has a transport pod that can be discharged at any point, this pod has a weak structure and can only sustane minimal damage, it is one the entrance way for the portal. The second door as most refer to it, is the vehicle itself, it must be stationary otherwise people cannot pass through the gateway. The protocol can withstand alot more damage, making it quite a annoyance to destroy at times of distress on a specific point of battle. It has a second pilot seat when stationary for firing a onboard beam turret. Only one person can enter this vehicle at a time, makeing the primary pilot switch between both positions.

This idea is definitely interesting and we will check back in a month or two to see how it is doing.

a little... except this is a mod.. and it sounds like its gunna be more of a mutator based mod than anything else.. either that or its gunna be an ONS variant but not using custom maps.....
