There is a lot going on since the release of the Editors Choice Edition of UT2004. In this post I will go over two news items released this week.

The first topic I will cover is the release of dedicated server version 3323. This is a stand alone file that allows web administrators to run a UT2004 server without purchasing the game.

Quote:
This is a dedicated server only version of UT2004. It contains "ucc" and the minimum files required to host games for retail UT2004 players. You may use it for free provided you agree to the terms in the ServerOnlyLicense.txt file in this archive.

There is no installer for this version. Simply unzip the contents of this archive into a directory on your server.

The program you run is in the "System" directory:
- Windows admins use "ucc.exe"
- Linux/x86 admins use "ucc-bin"
- Linux/amd64 admins use "ucc-bin-linux-amd64"
- MacOS X admins use "ucc-bin-macosx"

You will need a CDkey in order to use Epic's UT2004 stat tracking feature. You can obtain your download courtesy of 3D Gamers here and request your CDKey here.

The next piece of information revolves around Epic releasing concept art of the ECE vehicles, Paladin and Cicada, at Polycount. hawkprey released these pictures the other day and if you haven't checked them out head on over to Polycount for a look. Here is what hawkprey had to say;

Quote:
Hey guys

Loooooooooooonnnnng time since I have posted anything. Got permission to toss these up and thought you guys would appreciate them.

I was able to take a break from my normal duties here at Epic and design some vehicles for the Editors Choice Edition of Tournament 2004. It was a blast!

Basically I had a day to design each one according to specs that Mr Lee Perry gave me. I tried my best to keep them in line with the vehicles that already existed in Tournament. Then Mr Kevin "Rorshach" Johnstone took the design and busted out the vehicle, making changes as he saw appropriate. It was balls to the wall. I think we had all the vehicles in-game within a week.

There were tweaks made down the line as game play issues arose, but I thought you might like to see how these things started out.

Here is the scrawl kiddies.

You can check out the concept art over at Polycount here.
