I stumbled across a great article that takes a look at the sudden rise in legal music downloads. This comes on the heels of Napster annoucing that you can unlimited music downloads for a month fee of $15. I personally use MSN Music from time to time, as they offer decent stream quality (160 kbps WMA Format) and unlimited activation on the music file. However I don't spend as much as I would if they offered a better quality (at least 192). After a couple of years of my own purchasing and ripping I now have a pretty decent sized legal library of music. What format are you currently using?

Forgive my inexperience in these matters, but is there a place where one can actually download legal music (not free legal music, I'm aware that generally sucks Razz -and not streamed either...) without having to install a new program?

i wonder, can you realy hear a difference between 192 and 320? i mostly hear a difference when i turn the sound up loud, and hear the base and such. but it could also be a coincidence that the one song is just worse in quality, so the base and other sounds sound worse.

actually yes...

but its kinda hard to find the exact file your looking for in the exact format you want...

go to www.singingfish.com and search there. it will show a whole bunch of formats but you can only download the wma or mp3 formats

I actually don't know if I can detect a difference between 192 and 320. I just figure since I have plenty of hard drive space why not go with 320?

I could ask the same question of you Cheetah with all the racing games you play. Legend of Zelda is a classic game. Even the 64 Ocarana of Time was a masterpiece. And don't get me started on how great Halo is. The only problem I have with Halo 2 is that consoles are lame compared to PCs (not Bungies fault). So I think YOU are missing out on great games.

I do agree though that FF is ghey. Smile

I found out more about Napster's $15 a month unlimited download.

Quote:
Currently on offer in beta-version in the US, the service costs $15 per month for unlimited downloads.

The technology ensures that music downloaded to the player only remains playable while the user subscribes to the service.

Users need to update their license on a monthly basis or the tunes will no longer play.

Sounds like a bad idea to me. I think I will stick with CDs.

UBL will let you download some tracks for free, but with limited listen life (say, after you listen to it 5 times, it'll become disabled). Good way to preview CD's before you buy them.
