Oh my word, I feel really horrible about not posting this earlier. I was going thru my email and I just realized that I had skipped right over one from Dade informing me that the mod Shadow Arena has been released! What is Shadow Arena you ask? Well, here's the blurb I've gotten on it:
Shadows Arena offers Instagib-style combat with the Shadows Rifle (function explained below). Like InstaGib, the key to Shadows Arena is its simplicity. Nothing over-the-top, but the enjoyment is in the strategy and skill needed to wield the weapon effectively. If Arena-Style combat is your thing, or even if it isn't, Shadows Arena will not disappoint.
SHADOWS RIFLE
Primary: Fires a variable intensity laser beam. ROF depends on how fast you can click the mouse button. Instead of ammo, the Shadows rifle has a "charge." When the charge is full, the weapon deals full damage. As the charge drops, so does the damage dealt. The charge is always...recharging, but each shot drains it. The recharge rate is quite high, so you won't be sitting around (too long) waiting to deal more damage.
Secondary: Same as Primary, Unless using Zoom Shadows Arena mutator, then secondary activates scope.
Strategy: Watch the charge. Remember that the greater the charge, the more damage dealt. Fire single shots or in small bursts for the greatest effect. Also, since both firing mods are the same, you could alternate between primary and alternate fires to quickly discharge the weapon (unless using scope).
