A very cool thank you to Meridith of Digital Extremes for the following. She get us a little bit of a head start on the non-Unreal news websites but unfortunately I was away at work when I get this. Dunno what happened to my news poster today so here goes...

Big Tank Arcade Action Main Attractions In New Unreal Engine Based PC Game

Toronto – November 18, 2003 – Groove Games, a global publisher of interactive entertainment software today announced the shipping of Desert Thunder™ for the PC to most major retail stores. The game that drops gamers in the hot seat of one of the military’s most advanced battle engines can be found on store shelves this week at an estimated retail price of $19.99.

“Desert Thunder is the first in a series of games we are releasing that redefine the value category” said Jon Walsh, president of Groove Games. “Incredible graphics and engaging gameplay are not things you normally associate with value games. That shouldn’t be the case. Rather than sacrifice graphics and gameplay, we are encouraging our developers to create high production quality games on a smaller scale in terms of content scope and complexity. The team at Brainbox Games really hit the mark with Desert Thunder and we’re sure gamers will notice and appreciate the high gameplay value.”

Developed by Brainbox Games, Desert Thunder utilizes the advanced technology of the Unreal® engine bringing a whole new level of graphic quality to value-priced games. Combined with the Karma Physics engine, gamers will get a thrill from driving and blasting through fully destructible highly detailed environments while completing adrenaline-charged challenging missions on the way to victory over a tyrannical terrorist regime.

Ripped from today’s headlines, the storyline immerses players into the heat of a desert-based military conflict. Players will tear through desert, urban and industrial settings in their experimental battle engine, the Abrams M1A3x Advanced tank that’s loaded with awe-inspiring devastating weapons and armored to near indestructibility.
