A big thanks to Black Reaper for sending this information on the NVidia ForceWare Drivers that were just released.
Quote:
Checked last for latest nvidia driver before UT2004 reaches my doorsteps. The new Forceware Driver 56.65 is now available. After benchmarking with 3dmark03, it looks like this is a winner. I have a 5900XT and noticed I significant increase in performance with the Nature, Troll, and Space Marines games. Tests that were giving me 9-15 FPS were giving me 25-40 FPS after the install.
That is some very good news for all of our readers that still use NVidia cards.

Ah, but will Unreal games get a FPS boost? I seem to remember hearing that the previous ForceWare actually crippled performance in UT2003. Can anyone shed any light on this, or whether the new ForceWare is any good?

Also, can someone give me a link to that app which peals back NVidia drivers please?

So how much do they sacrifice visual quality for 'performance' this time ?

Given past acts of cheating in drivers and benchmarks I'd be very careful with anything made by nVidia that claimed to offer increased performance ...

Try completely deleting the old drivers before installing the new ones...

Anyone else suffered any performance problems with the new ForceWare? Or hear any rumours of it? The driver isn't WHQL-certified for non-FX cards, so I'm only interested in problems with FX cards. Also, if someone else has a FX 5600 or similar, and has these drivers, I'd appreciate it if you could leave a post saying how the drivers are doing- even if there's no difference.
