If you are interested in getting a clan server for UT2004, I think you might wanna look this way cause Atari is offering some amazing stuff.

Sounds interesting? Check it out here
Thanks Dubious for the heads up ! |

This isnt even close to the article that I submitted. The one that I submitted was deemed unwise to post because of a current advertisement / sponsorship with the UO site.
It spoke of the technology behind the 3rd party company that is hosting the Atari servers (who also host the EA Battlefield servers), the change that their proprietary technology will have on the GSP landscape, and how it will be nearly impossible to compete with this service if it continues to grow. I dissected the technology by the hosting company and found documents of their future plans.
I am disappointed that UO chose to ignore a heavily researched piece of news with educated analysis of the future of the medium in favor of a one-line blurb saying that Atari is hosting servers. This isnt PlanetUnreal - you dont have to dumb everything down for your audience. People come to UO becuase it gets technical.
I expected more from UO.

First, my apologies. I was obviously irked and posted that out of frustration. I will chalk it up to a possible miscommunication with -dp- last night, although I still am a little irritated at the refusal to post the information due to a conflict of interest with a UO site sponsor. But thats not my point. Im sorry, -dp-, tycho, and the rest of the UO staff and readers.
I organized my thoughts into a more proper article on what I was intending to convey to -dp- last night. Its long and probably boring to most of you but if you want to read it then here it is:

I knew about the Atari server rentals but didn't want to post about it because we are not using them to host the UO server. I was busy trying to talk with Epic to get us some info on UC2 and didn't see your submition. Sorry man it was just a misunderstanding
Thanks and sorry,

I will post your thoughts because I don't want us to be a biased site. GSG and FU both are solid companies and I don't mind sharing news from time to time. |
