Resident slueth, PsyKlaw, did a little follow up work on Friday's post about prototypes of Unreal 3 being shown at the Game Developer's Conference. It seems as GameSpy is saying that their sister site, IGN, mention of seeing the game is true and not a misunderstanding about seeing the UE3 demo. Rein's Inbox was full on Friday and our email was bounced back but we sent him another one today to see if we can get somethings cleared up. In the meantime see you this time tomorrow with the news!
-Update- Mark got back with me today and cleared some things up by a simple sentence.

Tycho,
It should be UnrealEngine3, not Unreal 3.

I guess that ends that. |

Yeah, they're just saying that. We all know there's an Unreal 3 on the way which will kick the arse of all the other games around . |

So the truth is... the people who really know aint saying.
There is at least another Unreal game still in the pipeline... the Nali and the Ripper are making a return somewhere, somehow if CliffyB's posts are to be believed.
Whether that means Unreal 3, or Warfare, or UT2006 or Unreal Carts or Unreal Dance Party, who knows. |

They've stated several times that the Necris will be making a return too.
I really hope they'll make another Unreal game or at least an expansion pack under the current tech, because Unreal 2 really didn't make enough use of the engine (or good enough use anyway), and we'd have to wait ages for a game using the next-gen tech... but methinks that if any further Unreal titles using the current engine were in development, we'd have heard about it. |
