This May at E3 the best concept art from game makers will be honored with a new joint project called "Into the Pixel" by, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Graphic Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Game designers whose impact has gone "beyond the digital arts to influence perspectives in art, cinematography, literature and even fashion." will be show cased at the center of the event.

A gallery of winning entries will be set up at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the E3 trade show and will be open to attendees as well as the general public. The jury panel include David Perry, president of Shiny Entertainment; Jason Rubin, Co-president of Naughty Dog; Jim Heimann, Editor-in-Charge at Taschen; Billy Shire, the owner of Los Angeles' La Luz de Jesus Gallery, and Mat Gleason, founder of the Coagula Art Journal. Details on the event can be found here, entries are limited to 3 per company...

We're also limiting submissions to Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences members and E3Expo exhibiting companies. If your MOD team created art that was published in a game by AIAS or E3 companies, I strongly urge you to team up with those companies to submit the art as partners.
I was really blown away by all the work done by James Hawkens for Unreal 2 and XMP. J. Manley a recognized game designer recently put his assets towards starting concept art.org. Concept art has artists who will share knowledge, technique and ideas, and soon help those in need of recruiting in the entertainment industry with "Artist Representatives"! I really would stress to the professional and freelance game artist that it is worth contacting any company you have done work with and asking if they could submit your work for next year. You can direct questions to pixelquestions@e3expo.com. You also might want to try getting your work on J.'s site. If you are a game developer or just a freelance game artist send me your stuff! Whether it's some thing you drew on a napkin during lunch or spent four months in front of your computer. I want to spotlight work that I think is unreal; that show people the ideas that make a world! If any one feel like putting me in their suit case when they go to E3 all I have to say is, I pack lite.

p.s. first post since I turned 18! Yay, for me...
