Well first of all a huge thanks to Mr.Magnetichead for this kick ass quick post before I head off to work. I have in my hands the first screenie from the Unreal Engine 3.0 taken from the NV40 Launch Party earlier this week.

Damn. Can you say eat your heart out! There is also a video of the event but I am looking for a Hi Res version for you guys. Hopefully Mark Rein will put out a couple of nice official screenies from it. Remember guys that this stuff is a couple of years away so don't get too excited yet. |

Tycho.
Redqueen is ME.
Can you change the name on the front page please.
I only used Redqueen because it's like my 14th account on INA. |

actually its UnrealEngine3.
Its just the name of the current engine from Epic.
Would be nice to see Unreal3 on it tho! |

Looks a bit like something that could have come from the Doom3 engine.

Wow that looks pretty awesome. The creature looks almost like a *new* mutated Skaarj or something. I'm digging the red eyes too. |

If it's anything to do with Unreal I'm betting its a human/skarrj hybrid. |

It's just an example model most likely made to wow punters and fans- it's fairly unlikely it'll be in a game, especially not in its current form.
There is a hint of Doom 3, but I love the way that Unreal tech 3 isn't making everything that's lit look shiny (as all the other major engines seem to)... if that model was rendered in D3 tech the arm muscles would look like they were coated in cling-film. |

Agreed. I can't understand the modern addiction to glossy stuff.... I've seen wax figures with less gloss than some of those screenshots out of the D3 engine.
Definately like the look of UE3 better than D3 already. |

Ok , but besides the glossy look you are talking about, is this really that amazing from the stuff we see today/this year in games?
