As some of you may have already noticed the Unreal 2 Concept Artwork has been taken offline and that the Non-Unreal Articles have been removed. There are two reasons for this that I am going to explain in better detail right now. The concept art was removed at the request of Epic and while I don't agree with their thought process 100%, I due understand where they are coming from. I'll use a quote from a recent email from them as an example as to why.
Quote: |
We might, for example, release a low-res version of some artwork and the artist might release a high-res version we never approved. That could one day diminish the value of an Unreal coffee table book or an Unreal art collection. We need to maintain control of our art so we don't accidentally lose future opportunities through sloppiness and unclear policies.
|
I look at that statement from a UO point of view and completely understand, as some of our exclusive content has been stolen before. Mind you I am still going to have the Art Forums so that we may showcase user art and cool screenies that have already been released to the public such as Unreal Championship 2, Unreal Warfare and others. I am just going to not take an art unless it has been officially released.
Now on the subject of removing the Non-Unreal Articles and future coverage of Non-Unreal games. While I don't do very many articles along those lines, I still do from time to time cover a game I think is cool. However this gets away from the basic reason as to why we do this site. We are Unreal fans first and other game fans second. So I am going to not take away from that by covering other games. Mind you there are so many Unreal Engine games out that should regular Unreal news be slow there is always another to cover. Just look at today's news with Advent Rising.
I feel it is a good time to get back to our roots and produce even better content than we already have. On the horizon there is my upcoming UT2004 Review, History of Unreal Part Three and a Pariah Interview. We will still cover news that affect your computer as well like the memory article, Windows XP SP2 and future hardware. I just feel we need to focus a little more and keep producing great news and articles. There are a ton of other gaming sites out there that you can view and we want to make ours the one you HAVE to read every week.
As always thanks for spending some time with us and see you tomorrow for more news! |

(google will always be my homepage, muhaha!)
I come here several times a day though.
Its a nice relief from the retardedness of some other forums, and carries just as much news as other Unreal sites (sometimes more). |

Google is a close second so I created a button at the top of IE so I can be so lazy as to not even have to type www.google.com
And yes....I agree.....nice to get away from other forums. Though, we could use a bit of a pop boost. |

There's no point in me having google as a homepage, or even a link to it because Mozilla has a built in 'search google' function . |

I distrust anything that adds stuff to Explorer. Experience has told me they're not to be trusted. Having enough frickin' trouble with Norton Antivirus/Netsecurity, supposedly the world's most popular and stable PC protection. |

Mozilla and Opera both can link a search field to Google so you just type your search in the address bar like, "1969 Mustang Parts" and press enter or click the search button and there ya go!
I tried the IE google bar once, but dont' see the point when Mozilla can do the same thing without the extra crap. Of course I only use IE when I have to. Mozilla is my browser of choice right now. Anything but IE. |
