Be sure your Windows April
security updates are in place.
Internet traffic watchers have been reporting an increase in traffic which they believe is a pre-cursor to a "Blaster style" Internet worm. This traffic appears to be probing computers for several of the vulnerabilities recently revealed by Microsoft's significant mid-April Windows security updates; specifically MS04-011, MS04-012, MS04-013.
If your machine is behind a NAT router and/or personal firewall, your system should be safe from external intrusion. But the Windows vulnerabilities disclosed by the April patches allow remote code execution, which is always dangerous. So now would be a good time to double-check with Windows Update to be sure you're running Windows with all current patches. |
