HomelanFed has a very interesting article in saturdays news regarding the upcoming Halo CE and the HEK Dev tools downloads, heres a snippet:

Moreover, we will also soon see the release of the almost mythical HEK mod tools for Halo as well. Both the Halo update (which is being called the Halo Custom Edition) and the HEK will not be officially supported by Bungie or Microsoft but at least Halo PC players will get a chance to see the game fulfill its great potential. We have mentioned in the past that Gearbox was committed to both improving the game (especially framerate wise) and supporting the mod community and that Halo PC, despite some of its tech problems is still selling well several months after its release last September. We still think it’s a shame, however, that Bungie and Microsoft didn’t take the bull by the horns and put their full official support behind the efforts of Gearbox; we would have likely received these improvements and the mod tools sooner and Halo PC itself would have likely sold more copies and had a thriving mod community by now. That’s crying over spilled milk however; we are grateful that Bungie/Microsoft have at least agreed to let Gearbox take over and allowed them the chance to make Halo PC a first person shooter that will stand proudly with the best in the genre. |
Sounds promising.... I think.... |

From what I have been reading on the GB forums it appears that the shader optimizations are only being applied to multi and not single player. If thats not a kick in the nuts then i dont know what is, especially when halo multi bores the shit out of you and all you wanna do is try the single player campaign. Some people never learn |

I'll second that, the Multiplayer in Halo was the reason why I bought the game...and played it a total of 3 days before I got sick of getting ran over by my own team.
I've played through the single player campaign, though and I'm glad I bought the game. But yeah, I still think Multiplayer for Halo is a joke. I hope Halo 2 will learn from the PC version...even though I know Halo for PC was distributed by another company. The Level design and editing sounds promising, though...I'll check it out. |
