Burgess, as some of you know from the forums is an "Unreal Party Animal" so anything that helps him play Unreal better he's on top of it. Like this:

After Nvidia released news of its monster card, you knew ATI wasn't far behind. Well that time has came and the X800 has been announced!
Quote:
Gamers using computers powered by RADEON X800 will enjoy a higher performance, immersive gaming experience that looks better than ever before. This High Definition Gaming experience is the PC equivalent to watching a sporting event on an HDTV. This is made possible by the highly scalable and efficient architecture of the RADEON X800 that uses 16 parallel pixel pipes and 6 vertex pipes to process more than 8 billion pixels and almost 800 million vertices per second.
Click on the above link to read the full Press Release. If your itchy to get your hands on previews of the card, there are 6 of them right here!
Its turning out to be a good day to be a gamer! Check out Beyond3D's UT2004 Benchmark stats. Even if you cant understand all the numbers, 53 fps with 4x FSAA and 16x AF, at 1600x1200 is very impressive!

I just found out I can't buy an ATI card as everything from 9600 onwards isn't supported on Windows 98!!! Which to me seems really silly as the 9600 was brought out in 2002, when Windows 98 was still supproted by EVERYONE, including Windows. Argh! And there I was looking forward to ATI card price drops... Crying or Very sad

Frankly, if your card is going to improve your system, then the rest of the system will need to be at a certain performance level. If it is, then upgrade to 2000 or newer. There are lots of inexpensive ways of buying OS's. You can get them at most discount online software stores for very good price if you buy a peice of hardware (like said video card) as OEM versions.

I've found that even Win2000 runs very well compared to 98, even for games. otherwise, check out nvidia as I think all of their cards run on 98.
