Browsing some forums today I ran across this little post in which KineticPoet (KP) from Irrational Games describes the sensor system that they're working on for Tribes: Vengeance. For those of you unfamiliar with KP's history in the Tribes Community, he was one of the lead developers behind the much beloved Team Rabbit 2, which in many ways might be seen as the grandfather of Bombing Run. Well, KP now works for Irrational Games helping design Tribes: Vengeance for the populous, and he has been hailed as the "voice of the community" in many circles, being one of the few developers that has actually had a good amount of time in the original two parts of the game.
So what does this all have to do with the article? See, Tribes had this massively overkill sensor network system that players could create, and if used properly, could be a really big token on their side. Problem was, almost no one (including some of the developers) new how to take full advantage of the system. Fortunately, from the post, it appears as though this is being addressed in the new game, with a much more understandable system for all players, and that is one of the reasons that many Tribes players are happy to see KP's influence on this project.
So, if you're interested in this upcoming game, do yourself a favor and get the heads up on the new sensor system by heading over here and reading away. |
