Well I am thoroughly glad this week is over. For those of you who don't know, my house got hit by lightning last weekend. It traveled through our phone line, into our DSL modem, through our router, and fried mine and my parents computers. Somehow my brothers survived this hit, dunno how... But just yesterday my Insurance report came back from the computer store for the new PC's; $800 for my parents PC, $1700 for mine, 150 for my router, 60 for my DSL modem, and a few other items that I don't need to mention. All in all I'm going to be collecting a $4000 insurance check for new PC's. I figure I can build 2 very decent pc's with that, or one extremely good, and one not so good. Whichever I want Wink one thing I am going to do tho, is grab a brand new ATI X800 video card and do a little reviewing! So once I get my pc parts I'll get right to work on that review!!! Anyways, on to the news!

Im crying on the inside for you man. Enjoy the new card, and next time consider surge protectors.

I've had a network card blown out due to a surge... it took the whole pc down, however, when I removed the network card, the pc booted up fine.

May or may not have made a lot of difference, but there's surgeprotectors out there that have jacks built in for phone lines

for 4000 you can build like a 2 proccersor supper PC,
i say build like 2, 2 decent ones, or.. make 1 thats real good for gaming and all, and another one for msn, irc, teamspeak, etc etc, and put em next to eachoter, both internet and network connections, thats prety nice, have everything you dont want while gaming on the other PC, or you can read the walktrough and not having to alt-tab... you get my drift.

a 2 proc machine doesn't really help any with games... unless you run 2 games at a time Confused
