Well this news comes as sort of a downer but not totally unexpected. First up our UT2004 server partner Game Server Gods recently had their funding pulled and had to close. However the staff is trying hard to get some capital and start one on their own.
On the file server front our co-partner Factory Unreal has had to trim down their services and one of the first things to go is the File Server. So in the short term we won't be hosting any large (100+ megs) files anytime soon. We will still be offering small files (under 50 megs) to those who need it.
With the economic downturn hitting the new fiscal year I am not suprised by these things. However, they do hurt gamers as variety dwindles a little. |
