Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that the next Xbox will not play original Xbox games like the PS2 plays PS games.

Speculation about the backwards compatibility functionality has been rife since it emerged that Xbox 2 - codenamed Xenon - will have radically different hardware to the original system, with a non-x86 processor, no hard drive and an ATI, rather than NVIDIA, graphics chipset, all of which would make running Xbox titles on the platform very difficult. |
You can check out the full article here. So it looks like we will not be playing UC or UC2 on the next Xbox. I hope something changes by the time the system begins production and they include this feature. I sometimes like to play older games and reminisce about the good times. |

Well, I'd like to think that the change in graphics chipsets wouldn't matter... but why would XB2 not have a HDD?
I was looking forward to it, actually... gettin an XB2 and playing both it and XB games... now I'm not so sure. I never spent (nor am I going to, I don't think) the money for an Xbox, since I already had a GCN and PS2.
Hmmm.... |
