I stumbled across a very interesting read on MSN earlier today. The article is on the new drive to market video games to girls. Here is a snippet.

I think that it would have to be a reality based game because they all watch that crap, well at least the ones I know. Yuck I don’t like where I am going so I will stop. |

I play Planetside and I have been in many outfits with girl gamers. What suprised me, since I was a little ignorant, is that they are every bit as competent as most men and just as aggresive. The only downside is that some guys just don't have a clue how to treat them so they end up leaving.
As far as what types of games that they will be targeted with I think they all will probably be mistakes. Girls are people and certain people just like certain types of games. Just because I am a guy doesn't mean the only games I like are gun games. I enjoy other types (strategy, trivia, card games, ect) almost as much. I am very glad they are taking interest in these gamers though. I enjoy playing with and against them. Now if I could only find a cute girl gamer to settle down with. A husband and wife head to head LAN would be oh so geeky fun. |

I think that would be like hitting the lottery  I got pretty lucky in the sense that she puts up with me. She’s not much into FPS but at least she likes RPGs and some other types. |
