As some of you may not have known but the UT2004 Forums and official website have been going through some maintenace lately. This combined with the recent news about the new Midway/Epic deal has prompted some readers and myself to ask a few questions. So what is an Unreal Fanboy to do? Well shoot them off to the head honcho at Epic, Mark Rein.
(With Epic doing work on the UT2004 servers)Will Epic have their own forums soon?
Mark Rein: Why would we need our own forums?
Is the Epic site finally undergoing a redesign?
Mark Rein: Not presently.
Are we going to see Hi Res versions of the images that were shown in the German magazine?
Mark Rein: No. You know at first I was going to be professional and courteous in my reply to his answer, then I thought 'Why, he obviously doesn't care what fans think.' I am not going to bash him too much but if it wasn't for the other people in Epic they wouldn't be where they are today because of Rein. I mean the forums question was a valid one because people want to have forums that aren't going to be pulled out from under them. The Epic website question was a solid one as well. The site looks like it is from 1998 and they update the information on it just about as frequent as rain happens in the desert.
Finally, I still can't see why he can't share cool media with the people that buy their games. Is it so hard to throw the fans a bone from time to time? Sometimes I wonder why Sweeney hasn't fired him yet. Oh well, if we didn't have him we wouldn't have someone to bash on now would we?  |
