Well it looks like another game has gone gold and is ready to be shipped! T:V is gold and being shipped on OCT 5.
Quote:
In Tribes: Vengeance gamers become immersed in a roiling galactic thriller. Throughout the game, the player catches glimpses of myriad interrelated stories that unfold behind-the-scenes and is given the opportunity to experience the full scope of the single-player story through multiple viewpoints and characters. Utilizing the all-new Vengeance Engine powered by Unreal technology, the world is brought to life with characters that have facial expressions and fully-realized personalities, vehicles that kick up dust as they pass by, and weapons that display spectacular effects. Tribes: Vengeance will also build upon the Tribes series’ legendary online multiplayer action by continuing to focus on team-oriented goals and fluid movement. Particular focus is being given to making Tribes: Vengeance easily accessible to the video game modification (MOD) community. Irrational Games and VU Games have worked together to ensure that Tribes: Vengeance’s game modification tools are easily accessible and robust.
Lovely, just lovely, now I just wish I diddnt have to read this secondhand, and that I got an e-mail with the press release....

Yea Cheetah I think I am going to pass also. After a while T:V just seemed like a mod for UT rather than a full product to me. And all that hoping around got a little annoying. I might pick er up later when the price drops but not at release.

ragdoll: indeed

grappel: fucking thing sucks indeed

lower FPS then UT, but non visible improvment

the skiiing is very fun tho, especialy when you got the flag and are folowowed by 3 people, your skiing backwards and taking em down 1 by 1.

and then theres the horible lag, and the lag is even worse in drivable vehicles..

must defend....

Cheetah: Its a demo/beta so they're still working out bugs. I didnt lag a single bit on my Laptop or PC. Driving i didnt like though....so i have to agree with ya cheetah on that. The new vehicles are....interesting, (jump boosting tank? cmon) you can tell people are going to whore that vehicle...

Burgess: Whats UT2004? All hoping and dodging....T:V is more like jump/boost/ski and not only that but u have to time the slopes for extra speed and momentum. The whole movement in the tribes series is challenging. Full conversion is more like it.....they are just using the unreal engine (karma, large scale terrain support, graphics, anything i left out?)

Raven: Tribes series has ALWAYS been slower then the UT series. Grapple works great, it adds a new concept for flag running. It takes practice to use property right though. Also, you only get a certain amount of hooks to shoot. So you have to use them wisely.

Exactly that is why I don't want to purchase another. UT2K4 owns and is, IMO, the best multiplayer shooter to date. No amount of skiing or jet packing is going to change my opinion. BTW the jet packing is what I meant by hoping around all teh time. Which I don't like. I like the skiing.

I wasn't a fan of the series before T:V and I tried to become a fan but it didn't happen. I may try out the official multiplayer demo when it is released. But I doubt it will change my mind. Sorry Sierra and Vivendi Universal Games will just have to wait for HL 2 to get my money.

I really liked the inventory system, equipment terminals, deployables, graphics, ect. I just don't like jet packing all around the level. And since that is a major attribute of the Tribes series I don't see them modifying it anytime soon. If I was in control I would nerf the hell out of the jetpack and probably have the guys at Tribalwar hunting me down. :p

Keep on posting. A fresh opinion is always welcome here. Very Happy

haha, well they use to have a mod in Tribes 2 that would have infinite jetpack. im sure someone will create some mod like that since the UT engine is very very modable.
