id Software and Activision Inc have announced that Doom 3 owners will be able to purchase an expansion pack for the PC. Titled Resurrection of Evil, it will feature new weapons (including the double barreled shotgun), levels, and characters. They have even expanded the multiplayer to 8 WHOLE players in all new maps. [sarcasm]Man they deserve a reward.[/sarcasm]

Through the discovery of a timeless and evil artifact you now hold the powers of Hell in your hands, and the demons have come to hunt you down and take it back. Following the events of DOOM 3 and featuring new locations, characters and weapons, including the return of the double-barreled shotgun, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil expands the terrifying action that fans and critics have been raving about. The title will require the full retail version of DOOM 3, and has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

HomeLAN Fed are reporting that Resurrection of Evil and the Xbox version of Doom 3 are slated for a 1st quarter 05 release.

In today's Activision financial conference call which just ended (you can listen to the repeat right here) and also on the newly revised official release calendar, the company announced that both the Xbox version of id Software's first person shooter Doom 3 and the just announced PC expansion pack Doom 3: Resurection of Evil are currently planned for release in the first quarter (Jan-March) of 2005 with a release closer to the end of March as the most likely time. As usual, though, id Software has the true final say-so on the release for both games.

I wonder how many people even finished Doom 3 and now they want you to buy an expansion pack. I did finish D3 and I am skeptical about purchasing this expansion. I sure wouldn't bother buying the Xbox version. But maybe some console purist will enjoy it. You can check out the full RoE press release courtesy of VE3D for more information.

i say they just come with that expension pack since Doom3 didn't lived up to his hype.. it wasnt as good as everyone thought it would be, and dident sold as good as they expected. so they hope to get some more money with this epansion pack.
