Well, don't know what to say about this... Nintendo has a new system on its way - the DS. It's some sort of hand held system with dual screens. They won't release a lot of information on it until E3, but if you're interested in it, here's the Reuters link.

Are you looking on the actual UnrealOps main page, or just here in the news comments? Because the links are only active on the main page, and there is a link there.

i contacted nintendo, as always they were nice enough to respond within hours.

i asked them the following:

hi i just read this link
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=4172624
and i would like to know if you guys have a pic of this new system, or is it
still under wraps. thanks

they replied:

Hello,

Nintendo has recently announced our newest portable gaming devise, code name
Nintendo DS. At this time, we are not revealing any pictures of the system.
This exciting new system provides an unprecedented approach to video game play
by allowing fans to view two separate LCD game screens at the same time.

Players can look forward to being able to manage their game progress from two
different perspectives, enhancing both the speed and strategy of the challenge.
For example in a soccer game, users can view the whole game on one screen while
simultaneously focusing on an individual soccer player's tackle or goal on the
other screen. Gamers will no longer be forced to interrupt game play to shift
perspective, such as moving from a wide shot to a close up, or alternating
between a character's ongoing battle and a map of the environment. Nintendo DS
makes it possible to perform the tasks in real time by simply glancing from one
screen to the other.

The Nintendo DS is estimated for a release by the end of 2004. While the
Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance/Game Boy Advance SP are all portable systems,
the Nintendo DS is very different and is in no way intended to be the successor
to the Game Boy Advance/Game Boy Advance SP. We fully intend for both products
to coexist in the market.

Today's announcement is but a glimpse of the additional features and benefits
that will be shown in full at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los
Angeles in May. However, we can confirm that the Nintendo DS screen will
maintain the high-quality visibility you find in the Game Boy Advance SP. The
system will also make use of a rechargeable battery and we will use a new type
of semiconductor memory that will be able to hold up to 1 giga bit of memory
(roughly 8 times the storage capacity of the current Game Boy Advance
semiconductor memory). More information regarding hardware and software
pricing, design, features (i.e. backward compatibility, connectivity, online
features, etc.), technical specifications, and software available at launch
should be available during E3 or shortly afterward.

We are expecting to receive significant third party support on this project. In
fact, developers around the world have already begun receiving information about
Nintendo DS specifications.

Once fully revealed, players will see innovative advances in game interaction
offered by the Nintendo DS. As E3 is right around the corner, be sure to stay
tuned to www.nintendo.com for the latest product news and E3 announcements.
