ATI released the newest CATALYST version 4.11 this weekend for the Windows XP operating system. ATI recommends that you have Service Pack 2 installed before using this driver version. These drivers contain a number of fixes for non-Unreal games as well as a fix for Postal 2.

Postal 2: The staircase now displays spots of red instead of becoming entirely red when a protester is killed using a machine gun. |
There have been some problems with ATI users having PunkBuster, popular anti-cheat software, installed on their system. To fix this ATI has released beta version 4.12.

The information in this article applies to the following configurations:
* RADEON 9500 or Higher
* PunkBuster Online Gaming Servers
* Windows XP
Random hanging has been observed with certain games on certain systems when using the PunkBuster server.
To resolve this issue, please follow these instructions:
Download and install CATALYST 4.12 Beta Release which resolves the majority of cases of this hang. |
You can grab the 4.11 CATALYST & 4.12 CATALYST drivers by visiting ATI. The release notes for the 4.11 official driver is available here. My suggestion is that if you have PunkBuster installed wait for the official 4.12 drivers. With Half Life 2 released TOMORROW there is no need to take any chances. |
