TeamXbox posted the official box art for Epic/Midway's upcoming Xbox shooter Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict.

Doesn't seem too inspired to me. Mostly looks like recycled artwork from the Unreal Championship 2 official website. Luckily, I care more about the game than its package. You can check out the full size image and additional information by visiting TeamXbox.

Recycling artwork doesn't mean it's uninspired, just that creating art is expensive, and recycling it is smart.
Also the box art was probably decided on a while ago, meaning the site recycles the box art, like most websites on computer games do.

I do see what you mean with uninspired, if for another reason though.
The reason being it's just 2 people, standing there, looking tough.
Still, it's what the Unreal series has always done from what I remember, 1 or more characters from the game on the box.
It works for me.

Not just 'uninspired', but why in <insert favourite deity's name> does the female have to be nearly naked, while the man gets to wear armour ?

I mean ... come on, that's so cheesy and old-fashioned it's not funny anymore.

Can't anyone paint a picture of a beautiful girl in armour anymore ?
And they definitely could have shown something ith a little more action instead of a standard portrait.

As for 'recycling' their own art ... so what ?
Besides I think it only looks 'recycled' as all the previews have shown us all available production-art' a few dozen times over everytime they needed to mention UC2.

Well, Selket (just checked the official site, and I remembered the name right, yay) appears like that in game, so it makes sense to have her look the same on the box, which is what we were talking about.

As for your actual point, I suppose I agree.
Anubus has some beefy arms which he shows for no good reason, but he definately is wearing some more sensible armour.
I suppose he should've been topless, even completely, since guys don't have breasts anyway.
If this team is inspired by Egyptians, it would even make sense.
From what I know both women and men didn't wear that much in the Egyptian heat.

I don't really understand, but supposedly a guy's upper body is attractive to women just like a girl's upper body is to men.
Like I said, he's still a well-trained guy, attractive to the ladies, but you can still clearly see it's a game designed by a team consisting of mostly men.
Truthfully I can't really be bothered by it.
I'm sure it helps sell, lots of people buy things because of a pretty picture, and ultimately that is everybody's goal; to earn some money.

As for more action...
Like I said, this is pretty much in the tradition of Unreal.
There have been vehicles or Skaarj in the background, but as far as I know there's always 1 or more people just standing there in the foreground.
It doesn't hurt to be consistant.
Then again, what do I know!

Of course she appears in the game like she's shown on the box.
That's not the point.

We're not living in the dark ages anymore. It's not just males that play these things. So why do they still insist on marketing it exclusively to them ?

Besides ... while it looks pretty, I think that not seeing (almost) everything exposed would be prettier.

As for an alternative : what about that 'angel-like' pose of that orange-haired Necris ?
Or would that look a bit too much like a certain other game ?
