After a period of time that made me wonder if my much beloved company Running With Scissors was going to be making a closing announcement, Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend has been officially dated for release! In the latest copy of The Urinal, the RWS newsletter for all the sick individuals that play Postal 2, Vince Desi announced:
Quote:
"This one was a real bitch," admitted RWS honcho Vince Desi. "Which is strange because it was right on schedule just before several events - none of them really related to the development of the game itself - forced us to grit our teeth and push back the release date. I was beginning to feel as if we were under a curse but thankfully it's finally ready to ship."
Also contained in this edition of The Urinal is a very humorous editorial about the "legal vultures" that "continue to circle" around violent video games. A very entertaining read, I strongly encourage all gamers to check this out. Only RWS has the brass to write something like this:
Quote:
Massacre doesn't require "training." I have never trained with Delta Force or any other such commando or military group, but you know what? Arm me with bombs, shotguns, .45s, knives, grenades, a willing partner, etc., and I guarantee you I could KICK SOME SERIOUS ASS in any high school in the world, even without the benefit of hundreds of hours on FPS games. Hell, I could probably be even MORE of a badass if I hit an elementary school. And day care? Those babies? I'd clean their clocks…
I don't know if I should be smiling at that, but I am. What are your thoughts on everything going on with violent video games? Comment using the link below!

I think that people should start taking responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming an art-form for their problems.

If FPS games can train or make you into a complete killer then RTS games should make you into a brilliant general..... not to mention that microsoft should be sued because they supply card games with certain versions of windows. These make people better at winning in casinos and also make people addicted to gambling.
Following the logic of the people how portray videogames as bad and very psychologially infulential, then all the above is plausible..... as well as fighter pilots trained from people who played F117 etc.

Psychological problems stem from many different sources and are only enhanced by certain conditions - such as stress or maybe even a game. They are not instantaneous and what people forget is that those people who do go on to kill and maim would probably have done so without playing a game. It's funny how we had all these sick people before the advent of games and it's only in the last 20 years or so that games have been condemned because of their presence in a number of cases.

I would like to see stats on the number of killings that were blamed on a videogame compared with those that weren't for the period of a year and within a certain age bracket. And then again compared with the stats of killings in the same age bracket before videogames were called to account - say the mid '80's.
