I have always said that some graphic engines may look more realistic that the Unreal Engine but that UE blends the right balance of cartoonish and realism. To date in my opinion the Source engine is the most realistic looking of the top 3 engines, UE 2.5 and Doom 3 being the other two. That is about to change and Half-Life 2 is about to get some serious competition. id has announced a new game coming to their Enemy Territory line. It is called Enemy Territoy: Quake Wars and it is very, very tasty. Have a look.

The lighting on this shot looks almost, not quite, better that the recently released Source HDR screenies. So the question is this. Are you going to get this or S.T.A.L.K.E.R? |
