according to PlanetTribes.... well i really dont know what is according to them, because i cant really understand what they said. But what i did understand was this thanks to the full article located at TribalWar.com: Of course the lack of client side scripting was a popular topic. However, most that were in attendance were very understanding of the idea. While it allowed for customizability that exists in no other game, it opens up a lot of doors into the game engine that should not be available. Something as simple as a programmer forgetting to remove a debug statement can allow access to exploits that hurt the life of the game. This, I believe, was an occurrence with Tribes 2. The development team is committed, however, to give the player as much customizability as possible without opening any exploits. This we were all assured of and was well received by the group.I think what is happening is that there is too many open doors in the unreal engine, and they dont want some of them to be open, so there taking the some of the customizability out of the game. But the idea of a custom HUD using a simple XML document would be really sweet. that idea was in the article also, along with a few other things. Read the full article on TribalWar.com |
