Woo! Anyone here but me excited about this awesome shooter / RPG? I loved the original... I only hope that this one can measure up.

The first to me had some clumbsy traits..... things that just felt "off".... nothin I could just say "YEAH! THAT!", but it just felt.... uncomfortable. I'm really looking forward to the second, to see if that has gone away or not though.

I really liked the 'go anywhere, do anything' approach - open ended games are always something I like. Morrowind, for example. I think that with this new generation of Unreal technology, a lot more can be done with that. Maybe not an entire continent ala Elder Scrolls, but something more than the clubs and streets of DX1.

I played DX2 at E3, and let me tell you it rocks! It feels nothing like DX1 did in terms of shoddy movement, tight controls, and wacky stuff. I remember in DX1 it was hard to figure out where I was looking, or what was attacking me especially. In DX2 you won't have that problem at all, as it's clear where you are being attacked from.

Also, you don't play as JC anymore, sadly. If you did you would probably be a demigod that was nearly invincible. No you play lowly someone else and take your orders from JC iirc Smile

Well, the first thing to note is that even on good machines, it can run a bit slow at high resolutions with all your details up. I run mine at 1024x768 with pixel shading (i.e. real looking water) off and at 50% view distance... with that said, it's an awesome game. You can do anything. You can, if you want, even break the storyline of the game. Now, how cool is that? Okay... not too cool when you do it, but you get a special message about it just in case, so that you know to reload. But, you can repair your own armor and stuff, create tons and tons of custom weapons, etc etc. Two of the coolest things about Morrowind are this: 1, you're on a huge continent, and you can walk around ANYWHERE... it can literally take days (game time) to move from one town to the next unless you take some faster route (I wear special travel boots Smile) and 2, this isn't some D&D game where you roll some dice (or the computer does) to determine whether you hit your opponent. If someone uses a shockball spell, and I jump to the side... well, I don't get hit! It's that simple. Also, using certain attacks with certain weapons does more damage. If you swing or slash with a spear, you're not gonna do much - but if you jab with one, ouch! Also, building your character's skill set is much more realistic. If you're an RPG fan, this is a great game to have.

Or, do you think that those of you who are "lasy" could take the time to read? Plus... it was intended for one person who was really interested in the game - I'd imagine that he appreciates the depth and detail I went into.

Was the Yokko Kanno comment directed at my Cowboy Bebop avatar?
