Gamespy has the first and second segments (today sometime) of what they believe are the 25 most "Overrated" games of all time. It's a week long look at games that have been hailed by their fans or companies, but have very little merit in of themselves. Here's a little blurb on what their hopeing to cover:
Sometimes a game gets a little ahead of itself. All of a sudden, what you've got in the box in no way lives up to the reputation that preceded it. It happens all the time: a title will coast to the market on a wave of hype, getting glory far beyond what was earned. As gamers, we'll stare limply at our monitors or TV screens and ask ourselves: "Everyone was excited about this!?" That's an overrated game!
Should prove to be interesting, and I can only wonder if anything our beloved readers play is going to make it on this list. It's gonna be neat to see if one does, and of course, why? So why not go on over and check out the review for yourself, it's located here and as I mentioned, they should be posting the second part of this sometime today. |

Nah, love'm. But you know as well as I that the games have their critics... just curious to see if the old cliches get trotted out. |

Unreal II made the cut! You knew it was going to happen.
I've never even got around to buying the game. I was so hyped about Unreal 2 before it was released, being an utter Unreal 1 fanboy, but after the reviews and previews I lost the urge.
It wasn't "Unreal", it was some other generic futuristic FPS.
Maybe it'll turn up on a "$10 or less" table at EB sometime... |
