"and the Linux gaming market is laughed at by those who are to dense to look any deeper than what Microsoft tells them."
People don't use Windows because they are too 'dense' to realize how great Linux is. People use Windows because it is easier. People use Windows because it's what they have at work. People use Windows (or OSX for that matter) because the software they want to use works best on that platform.
There is this smugness about the Linux community that the rest of the intelligent computing world doesn't like. Your quoted comment above is just part of it. Computers are my business. Windows is my primary concern at work. Fixing it, that is. I know all about the things the Linux community will point at as inferior with Windows, I have to deal with it daily. That said, I use Windows at home. Properly maintained, Windows is a great operating system. I can do the gaming I want to do. I can set up new hardware and software with ease.
I've installed Linux twice on computers that I've had. There just seemed to be no benefit to me. There seems to be no benefit to the majority of computer users either. Thats why we 'dense' Windows users use Windows. Not because the wool has been pulled over our eyes, not because we can realize the product has all sorts of holes. I have nothing against Linux, it's a fine operating system. It has many areas in which it is better than Windows. But those areas are not of interest to the average user, and by extension the average gamer.
To answer your question, I think adding better support for gaming would lead to greater adoption, but not much greater. Even gamers use their computers for more than just gaming.

Our Network guy at work is a Linux fan.
And it makes him utterly obnoxious. That endless stream of lame gags about Bill Gates and Windows... it's all nerdy and nasty and very, ummm "Comic Book Guy".
He takes the whole Operating System thing far too seriously. |

saying Windows is better then Linux is just plain... stupidity
saying Windows is just more... you or you feel better using it is only natural
please don't mix these together folks, facts are facts and though I doubt the modern math then this... I do not doubt |
