-update- Well it has been almost a year since Mark yelled about me about something I posted on the site. I guess I was due. Smile It seems as though someone from NVidia (I'm assuming) didn't like the fact that you can Mod their logo. Here is an email I received today and like most things I complied with it.

Remind me one of these days to read that damn EULA. Sorry but since support for the upcoming Unreal Expo is a little more important to me than posting this file, I am removing the link at Mark's request. Oh well you can't win 'em all.

Newegg, which owns, has the 5950 for $372

My recently purchased 9800 pro was $209

In this case you would have wasted $163 for a minimal performance gain. That is why ATI have the "real" cards for smart gamers who don't waste money on early adopter cards from Nvidia.

this test comes out better for ATI, but i read some test yesterday, where nvidia came same as ati, some things better, some things worse. but like 1 FPS different.

you need to look at the top of the crop from both sides.... 9800XT vs. 5950Ultra

You wont get a 9800XT for 209 bucks.

Plus, im not sure where your argument for "early adopters" comes from.... ATi released the 9800 long before the 5950, or even 5900.

Basically the point I was making is that it took Nvidia to make the 5950 overpriced card to compete with ATI's cards. So if you want to spend your money on a minimal performance increase then be my guest. Educated consumers will purchase the existing ATI cards rather than paying the premium. I would not buy a 9800XT either unless I won the lottery. I loved my 4200, best card ever made, but the new cards are a disappointment to me.

Cheetah, post your system specs. ^_^; I just got a ATI Radeon 9200SE for 50 bucks...

Before that, and what I ran 2k3 on for as long as I had it, was a GeForce 2 MX 400. I'm a poor whiteboy with no money, so I can't afford 200-300 dollar video cards.

I'm currently running a P4 1.6 GHz Proc, 256 MB of RAM, the ATI previously mentioned, and a 16x DVD-ROM drive. I'd post more of what I have, but thats the only thing worth mentioning when talking about gaming specs. ^_^;

seeing as how I'm only running a 1.6, and 256 of RAM...I think getting a newer, more expensive card would be overkill, anyways.

I agree with WarZone, the 4200 was one of the best cards I ever owned. Second only to the 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 AGP.
