I'd say go for it, but make sure you set the overtemp protection!

The additional RAM is going to REALLY help, but more is even better.

I'd suggest going to one of the many OC sites out there and see what recommendations they give.

There are ways of upgrading the Heatsink/Fans to help keep them cool. You will be a bit limited unless you are willing to do a little hand work and replace your HSF with better ones and upgrade the thermal compound (I do this even when not OCing. You'd be surprised at how poor some of the factory thermal paste is put on.)

Arctic Silver is the one to look for. Not sure what they are calling the newest one. I think AC3 was the last one I saw.

It can be a fun thing to do, but can also be tedious until you get used to doing it. And, yes your system may become less stable, but then you can just drop the OC a bit until it runs correctly.

lol Thanks Raven, and Homer - which site do you prefer? Right now...my computer OCing skills are poor, and I don't want to do anything that I wouldn't be able to fix if something went wrong - I haven't got the money to replace a single part in my computer, yet.

I'm going to upgrade to an ASUS motherboard or Intel sometime within the near future, so i'm not sure if I want to take the money to get another 256 MB of RAM. I got screwed over by Dell when I got this computer - the motherboard only supports 512 MB of RAM...so I'm sort've limited on choices... i_i;

It's been a while now, so I'llhave to check them out again, but you can do a search and look at a couple. The best one will have some very good instructions/articles.

http://www.futuremark.com

Has some very good information and lots of forum members who are both kind and knowledgeable. The site also has good news sections related to all things games and video and hardware. Nice to just check out anyway.

256. My POS Dell system can only handle 512.

Sorry for not posting (damn school projects!) but yeah...512 was a good move.

Bad move? Spending a whole paycheck on a stick of silicon. ~_~; I need a second job this summer. ^_^;
