Well, while I was over at FilePlanet getting details for the last news post, I noticed that, voila, HaloCE now available!
GameSpy's evil twin (aren't they both evil?) IGN had this to say about the game:
Quote: |
GameSpy today has revealed Gearbox Software's upcoming HaloCE, a significant upgrade to Halo: Combat Evolved on the PC, as well as a suite of editing tools.
Among other improvements, the HaloCE update is said to improve performance on pixel-shader hardware by up to 60%, as well as minimize network lag "warping." CE also includes the Halo Editing Kit (HEK) for creating custom Halo-driven content. |
w00t! Now, I have to say, Halo for PC was not nearly as good as it was for the X-Box, but I did buy it... so maybe I'll give HaloCE a chance. However, I almost feel like this is a clone of the XMP saga - a primarily single player game was released, didn't do well, so the main developer released an under-the-radar unofficial multiplayer expansion. Now, yes, HaloPC did have MP, but it was seriously lacking, and this "stand-alone multiplayer version" promises to make up for that.
We'll see.
More information and a download link can be found here.
UPDATE - This is not a standalone game, Ive had a few questions regarding that and I thought we should clear this up. |
