Well now, what have we this day for you... While assembling my notes for news today, I had a question that I just couldn't get out of my mind. I was wondering what type of hotspots for wireless networking might be available in the area, and after some searching, I actually discovered some that were even mentioned online. Well that got me thinking, if there are some out here in po-dunk Idaho, I wonder what other UO readers might have access to. So the random thought discussion topic for the day is this: Does your local community have any free access wireless hotspots? And if so, do you use them or would you be interested in using them if they were made available? I've always thought it would be really nice to have some in high traffic locations (say perhaps around a mall), but around here they seem to be around the truck stops. But I figure heck, someone who reads this must live in a place with some really good ones. So speak up! Do you read your UO from a strange and bizarre location via a wireless hotspot? We'd love to hear from ya.
Anyway, enough with the rambling, on with the news. |

My university (UGA @ Athens) is totally wireless. You can go anywhere in the town and access a T1 wireless network. |

To quote from http://www.slangsite.com/slang/W.html:
Quote: |
Welp: Well. Not for use when describing your condition.
Example: Welp, I've got to go. |
There, there's your definition Damn nitpicky people. Might as well have been calling you all a bunch of welps (old english version implied this time).
Sheesh. |

As for the actual responses...
700 feet is about 213.36 meter's Cheetah.
Not to bad of a hotspot signal all things considered. The best I've found here is near a truckstop where I could actually see a signal at the hotel across the street. Now that'd be nice, come over, stay at the hotel, mooch free access |
