A HUGE thanks to 006 for hooking us up with this information. This month's PC Gamer has a nice little write up on the Make Something Unreal Contest. In the write up we get our first look at the new (old) Sniper rifle. It is kind of cool seeing it in a Skaarj's hands. Head on over to the local newsstand and grab a copy! |

is it just me or does the turret behind him look like a giant ASMD rifle?

Seems to be going in a Battlezone II direction Will be interesting to see how the teamplay elements to the vehicles work out. I Hope the bots are good drivers |

It's a big mistake if you ask me.
Epic removed the sniper rifle because it was WAY too powerfull and the Lightning Gun is a lot more balanced weapon.
Why bring back the mistakes from the past? Just because the "pros" want it back doesn't mean the rest of us do. |

Hammer, gotta agree with ya there. Though, I'm certain that it's being included more as an option than a requirement. Atleast, that's what I'd do as a programmer. More like making it a mutator than anything else.
Personally? I'm holding out for an energy-style lazer rifle. I loved the idea from the Tribes series, and I think it'd have a place in the UT series. However, that's just wishful thinking. |

well yeah, to bring back the sniper rifle aint very good and I see it as a shock rifle with a small modification.
Raven: I was thinking exactly the same... well that it was a turret, not that it looked like a giant shock rifle... maybe a AA gun? |

Oh the Sniper rifle was extremely satisfying.
It was balanced with the fact that you lose alot of your view of your surroundings when using it.
I aways loved the Sniper vs Biorifle battles upstairs in Deck16.
And the Snipers on Face were what made that level interesting.... something to avoid and stop. |

my friends and i could always make that match last forever on face. we always played w/16 bots, and we just camped, trying to see how long we could stay in the dominant position, i think the longest one of us ever stayed in power was around 250 kills, then we usually killed each other. (those games the flag count was put to 10 and there were no time limits, also the frag counts for those games usually amounted in the 900's, and took around 3-4 hours to complete) |
