i agree with Tel, but look around some more, there some custom AS maps that are very good, just sort the server list on map, and look for non stock ones.

where.. i just sayed where, go to server browser, assault, sort on map, and look to names you dont know.

Haven't tried unknowncube, templeoftrials or mantarace (and not sure about Jailbreak), but my experience with the rest of them has led me to the conclusion that extreme gimmick maps are rubbish. Sorry, but I'd rather have some *real* AS maps being made...

no one realy knows how to mke nice AS maps yet, since its new,. wel it was in UT99, but not in UT2k3.. so thats why i think..

Man, anyone remember the assault pack for UT99 that came out in '00 or '01? Some big ass 81meg file... I remember quite fondly the AS-Bridge map... there was also another one... I don't recall the name, but you had to lay siege to a base in the winter. It was cool as hell, and there was a sequel, too.

Yeah, Shock Systems made the best AS maps in UT (Cold Steel, and Cold Steel 2... sequel was in the AS pack you speak of)

i think ONS is very good, but AS still roxors.. and normal DM and stuff is always nice.

Someone should convert all the original maps from UT to UT2004, like someone did with the Frigate map (where you take over the ship). It's probably harder than it seems but would be worth it.

Personally I would see that as a waste of time, one of the biggest turn-offs about UTAS was that most of the maps sucked. However with some heavy tweaking, they could be made to work with UT2004. Frigate is a decent straight-conversion, but it plays *really* badly in UT2004... hopefully the author will release an updated version in the future with gameplay optimised for the new game.
