Can you tell I enjoy community made maps? I am always on the look out for unique or just plain fun maps. I started out reviewing maps for another Unreal site way before ever joining UO. Anyway I stumbled across this very large and very nice looking CTF map known as CTF-NeotericMetal. The author, Brooke 'ChookWoods' Brady , even provides a reasonable story for this levels existence:
Quote: |
Onslaught's introduction into the tournament had fans flocking in to see the mayhem, leaving behind the classic, more graceful tournaments like Capture The Flag. In meeting the demands of CTF devotees, Liandri designed a new Arena that would be the birthplace of a new generation of CTF. |
I wouldn't go so far as to say this map is the beginning of a new generation of CTF, but it is really fun with a nice flow. The bot pathing seems solid for you 56K folks and this map uses the standard textures supplied with UT2K4 so the download isn't too bad. The first time you play NeotericMetal you may have some issues navigating it but if you follow the red/blue arrows, see below, you should have no problem. So go ahead and give CTF-NeotericMetal a try. Pop on over to UT2004Maps and grab your download here. As always let us know what you think.

To bad I don't have cable anymore, I would have alot of maps off the net. Not to worry though I use UnrealEd and looking foward to finishing up school so I can start work at a gaming company, making levels etc.
I am working on 2 maps on and off. The 1st one I started 2 months ago I haven't came up with a solid name yet, but the theme is Egyptain-Tech, I'm tweaking alot of things right now and trying my best to fill it up. Trying not to leave bland areas and hopefully throwing in some custom textures. However I was playing Gael 2 online, which is the only map that works great with a 56k. And I noticed alot of things that were wrong with it. Try opening it up in UnrealEd and look at the second floor trim. Alot of it is overlapping and many others things that bugged me. Not sure why this is, maybe time on the creators behalf. When I make a map I strive for perfection, I know this is impossible, perfection that is, in this world. But something close to it. Anyway, so I decided to make Gael 3. This maybe illegal in some ways, and not to creative, but I thought it would most definitly be fun. I am about 4 weeks away from it being done, and I have already put alot of time and thought into it. Gael 3 Arena is ALOT bigger than the Gael 2. I am also trying to fit in a vehicle, but I don't think that is going to work out. I added plenty of Static Meshes so as time pasted space was filled. So Burgess if your interested I can send you the map and its files, through e-mail. I have sent other maps to friends over Yahoo and it doesn't take that long, even with the 56k.
I am also working on some designs on paper, preparing for their creation.
I always try to think of new maps, and ideas I have never seen before. One idea I don't want to give out, because it may be stolen. Even though I would like to believe that the UT community is as one, but there are thiefs more or less. Maybe a private message may be more suitable.
Thanks ENocK>>>
