An early good morning to all of you out there in Internetland. I am pretty happy that after today I don't open for two weeks and can actually post news in the morning instead of the night before. Let's start the week with the usual dose of entertainment talk.

I always wondered why the only thing I could do when I was hungover was play games. Well now I know why. Medical Researchers have discovered that virtual reality help distract the brain from pain. It will be very interesting to see where some of this may lead doctors down the road.

Movies, movies, movies. In an effort to save some money for a new rock climbing trip this September I only ventured out of the house twice this weekend. Once was to go see King Arthur. Now some purists hated the new ideas on Athur but I myself liked the new way of looking at it. I know that a hot chick that shoots arrows like a god is far fetched but other parts of the movie where very interesting. Well enough of that on to the news...

King Arthur. I haven't seen it yet, but def plan on seeing it soon. I LOVE Kiera Knightly. Almost as much as Cheetah!

However, this "New" way of viewing King Arthur is strange to me. The movie producers claim this is the "true" story of Arthur, but historians have debated Arthurs origins forever.

The King Arthur we are all familiar with is, in fact, nearly completely made up. Almost every facet of his existence was created by writers many centuries before.

The stories of Arthur may in fact be built upon an actual person, or persons, but this has never been proven in entirety by anyone. There are several theories and a few possibilities, but for sure, no.

There are records of a few people in legend who match Arthurs description in a basic sense and one or two who had similar names, but there were never enough details about these people to definitely correlate them with the Arthur of legend. Keep in mind that these records are often written in an antique language and sometimes carved in stone. Nearly all of them are hard to date on their own.

One problem with the whole Arthurian legend is that the name Arthur wasn't used until a specific point in history, but then suddenly quite a few people were named Arthur (or a variant similar enough). This has caused many to believe that there was a person named Arthur (or similar), who was of great renown, and whose name was given to many new babies in respect to him.

Still, the fact remains that there is no ONE person who is considered to be THE Arthur of legend. In fact, the Arthur of the stories are more than likely built upon the Legend itself, which is possibly built upon a real person or persons, or possibly made up in entirety out of the desparate minds of the people in need of someone of such great courage and renown.

Still, I think the movie may be a good action film even if the producers decided to make a claim of truth on a shred of evidence and stretch the possibilities of realism in certain areas. To me it looks like they made a good attempt to model the movie after many historical facts, such as certain clans fighting naked with their bodies covered in paint (or very close in the case of Ms. Knightly), and the props and costume appear mostly accurate.

I just saw I, Robot and I must say I liked the movie. Full of action and great special effects. Good summer action movie. Only loosely based on the book by Asimov, but I knew that going in. I haven't seen many Will Smith movies that I didn't like (Even Wild, Wild West was watchable, though ridiculous.)
