James Schmalz Founder and Creative Director of Digital Extremes conducted several interviews recently about Pariah. Two of which, a video and audio interview, I will cover in this post.
Gamespot hosts a video interview which is very informative but a little short for my tastes. In this interview Mr. Schmalz stresses that the single player game will not take back seat to the multiplayer. He envisions Pariah being the total package game we all dream of. The single and multiplayer weapons will all be upgradeable through Weapon Energy Cores (WECs). DE hopes that through this ability players will establish player classes themselves rather than being forced into them like BF1942. He ends this video interview on a high note stating that Pariah is scheduled for release March of next year and that DE are on track.
The second audio interview was conducted by Sanqualis, thanks Shacknews!, at the EGN show in London. This interview is a lot deeper covering some questions I had. Some of the high points are; The single player game will roughly have about 15 hours of gaming play with unlimited multiplayer play. Some examples of WEC upgrades were provided such as Poison and Gas Grenades, health increases, max ammo capacity, and finally Dash which has just been added. Dash gives players the ability to sprint out of dangerous situations. The medical applicator will also be upgradeable providing a resurrecting function which is always welcome in my book.
The biggest development, IMHO, of this interview is that Pariah’s Xbox Live games will be served by PC hosts. This should cut down the lag we have all experienced and let Xbox Live players have much more rewarding multiplayer experiences. Overall Pariah is shaping up to be a game of the year contender. I know I can’t wait for my first (WEC) upgrade. If you are looking for more Pariah info. I highly recommend checking out both interviews. And now I will leave you with a nice ingame screenshot. Have a great weekend one and all!

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen, there is a very very short in-game video (complete with people back-seat driving the poor guy trying to play). Kind of nice because it's much larger than the gamespot version. |

Argh, the topic doesn't show! The above post applies to the audio link page. Go to the bottom of the audio interviews, past the screen shots. That's where the in-game video is. |
