It has been 3 years since the world forever changed. I can still remember exactly where I was and how I felt when I learned about the attacks on this country. It almost seems like it happened yesterday. The images of suffering and destruction are very hard to forget as they should be. This horrible loss of life did bring out the best in one and all. And together we helped comfort the families and morn the loss of our loved ones. So today I would just like to remember the heroes and continue to wish the best for all the families who lost loved ones due to the events of September 11, 2001.

I remember, too.

I was a sophomore in High School, and I was in my AP Chem Lab when one of the students, who's a bit unhinged, said she had heard on the radio that someone had blown up the Pentago. I, of course, thought she either walked in on the middle of a prank call, or was just being stupid.

About five minutes after that, the assistant principal walked in, handed a piece of paper to the lab teacher, walked out, and locked us in. We all started whispering back and forth, and needless to say, we didn't care about oxidization rates.

I found out the story as our teacher turned on the TV and we saw the second plane hit the tower. At the time, I was worried sick for my father because he was in the MLK Jr. Federal Building in downtown Atlanta, one of the biggest (if not the biggest... I'm still not sure there) federal buildings south of D.C. If whoever was doing this decided to strike the whole nation... well, my dad would be in the same area that they were going for. Thankfully, the Feds thought the same thing and evacuated everyone there.

I will never forget that day.... nor the lives lost. Watching those people jump from buildings, seeing that plane explode....

God bless America, and God rest the souls of those who lost their lives.

Let’s keep this thread on track. If you don't like America then please start another thread in one of our other forums and go to town. But don't blast us here. I respect and enjoy that we have many international visitors. I hope many of you return to our site often. But this thread isn't political. I just wanted to pay my respects to the heroes and families.

i remember i was in my junior CCNT class at the local tech center. we cancelled all classes to watch the newsfeed. I came in right at the time to see the second plane crash in.

me and half of the other people watching that lost their lunch thinking about all the people in there.

after about an hour watching the same stuff i just got up and left. i couldent stand it anymore. i just had to get it outa my head. so me and a few other guys went into another room and started playin UT. lucky us the first map we played was that DM map with the towers... I dont remember what the name is. some of us had to leave that too.

i ended up going home and tried not to think of it.

there was nothing else i could do...

Tell that to the people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Dafur ... and all the other countries (in Africa) that still suffer and will continue to suffer until the world realises that it shouldn't just 'help' the ones that have oil and other cheap resources we want.

(It's spelled "unfortunately".)

This terrorist thing is really getting annoying.
Lots of people are getting abducted all over the world these days because terrorists want the Americans to leave Irak for instance.
If America brings home its soldiers, those people will supposedly be let go, and terrorists will learn it pays to abduct people, so the best thing is to ignore their threats and let all those people be killed.
This is a screwy situation.

God bless the rest of the world!
(I don't see why only America should be blessed; that's stupid.)

That kind of logic works when you're dealing with children.

The world isn't as simple as that. The 'terrorists' in Iraq are fighting for their country the only way they can when they're horribly overpowered and hidden from the world by the controlled media.

How would you feel if the US was invaded because people don't like Bush? Ordinary citizens, even those who didn't support Bush, are arrested, harassed and tortured just for objecting...

I'm not saying they're all friendly people and there wasn't any good done in the invasion of Iraq... I'm just trying to tell you to think a little more about what's happening there instead of using a one-line summary to dismiss these very real people.

What knowledge you have influences what you think is logical, but logic is logic, to children as well as adults.
If someone keeps trying something and it doesn't work, he'll give up, perhaps try something else.
If he keeps trying the same thing even though it obviously isn't getting him anywhere, he's just wasting resources.
Actually I see people like that often enough, but you know what I mean.

I realise those terrorists are fighting for their country, and I can't blame them for that.
I can blame them for their methods, but then again they have been raised very differently from Americans for instance, so can I even do that?
At this point I always reach the same conclusion, which is just what you said:
"The world isn't as simple as that."

If somebody, even if it's your parents, tell you killing people is OK, does that mean you can't help yourself if you do just that?
It doesn't, not completely, but upbringing is a VERY important part of one's personality.
What you learn on your own, from more objective sources of information can still influence your personal beliefs on for instance killing, but not everybody has access to all information.

I am not from America, and the only honest answer to your question about the invasion of the US is: I don't really know.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone would try to, I know that much already.
I don't believe anyone here is the Bad Guy or the Good Guy; it's a matter of from what angle you're looking at things.
I don't even believe in Good or Evil in general, and yes, I am an atheist.

I could be wrong, but I think we agree more than you originally thought.
