You heard me right play your Xbox or PS2 with a mouse and keyboard. I have been waiting for this product for a long time. Lik Sang has developed the SmartJoy FRAG adapter.
TeamXbox and Gamespot have both recently provided previews of this device. They pretty much cover the same material such as the SmartJoy FRAG is fully programmable and it comes with already installed configurations for popular titles. One major difference is the TeamXbox article provides a video demonstration.
Current titles supported for the Xbox are: Halo
Medal of Honor Frontline
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Unreal Championship
Counter-Strike
PS2 titles supported with presets are:
Socom 2: US Navy Seals
Medal of Honor Frontline
James Bond 007: Nightfire
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3
Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm
REZ
TimeSplitters 2
The current price for both versions, PS2 and Xbox, is $28.90 American. They are configured for standard mice and keyboards so an additional USB adapter may be necessary which sells for $12.90. A picture of the Xbox version is located below.

I will be buying one of these real soon. I just need to fight my brother to get my Xbox back in time for Halo 2. With Xbox Live Halo 2 and Unreal Championship 2 my Xbox will be getting a lot more attention this winter. I just hope this doesn't cause too much of a problem online. Because let's face it two people with equal skill one with a controller the other with mouse and keyboard the controller is always going to lose in most FPS.
As soon as I get a chance to test this product, current estimate is mid November, I will post up a review. You can order your SmartJoy FRAG or dig up more info. by visiting Lik-Sang here. |

Holy freakin crap! I've been wanting this for YEARS! Now I can start playing my PS2 again!
I read through the Lik Sang article and then checked out the comments and one guy actually got really pissed off because the thought that someone playing with a KB/Mouse would be like cheating. And now he'll have to set up a table to play games on instead of laying on the couch.
I guess the age-old question of which is the best comtroller for FPS games will be answered soon! |
