Quote: |
LOS ANGELES (October 18, 2004) Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that Half-LifeĀ® 2, the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed PC titles in gaming history, will ship to retail outlets around the world in November. The Company confirmed that Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Software, has gone gold with a planned retail street date of November 16, 2004. The countdown to the highly anticipated retail street date has begun around the world, as VU Games completes plans to ship localized versions of Half-Life 2 simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese.
Half-Life 2 has surpassed our expectations in every sense its high-quality graphics, ground-breaking physics and immersive first-person shooter gameplay set a new standard for PC action games, said Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games. Half-Life 2 will go down as one of the best-selling PC titles, and we are thrilled to deliver this ground-breaking title to the worldwide gaming community this fall. |
Looks like we will be playing Halo 2 and Half Life 2 next month. November is going to rock! |

With Halo 2 and Half Life 2 coming in November, 11-9-04 & 11-16-04 repectivley, I am going to be very broke but entertained. Hopefully I can finally beat Far Cry in time.
Which version are you guys purchasing?
I am grabbing the SE of Halo 2 and the silver Steam package for HL2. |

ooohhh i dunno if i want to have steam installed on my pc.....
but i guess i can uninstall it once i install HL2 cant i?
but i guess i would like to see HL:Source.... and CS:Source....
especially since mod teams have approached VALVE asking for rights to redo the textures/models in high quality ways since their all the old ones, just with new level effects.
and i'm getting the SE of halo 2 |

Nope, once you get the Steamed version you've sold your soul to Valve and can't get rid of it ever.
In fact you even need to be logged in just to play the singleplayer-game ...
I'm glad I get HL2 for buying the Ati-card, because there's too much to play already (Evil Genius, Dawn of War, Sims 2, Rome:Total War) and then there's GTA:San Andreas before the end of this month as well |

On a side note it is going to be a great birthday month this year!! Woot!! |

That pretty much cured my interest in Steam. I try to stay away from big brother keeping tabs on me. Sheesh why do they always have to complicate shit? |

While I am confident that HL2 single player will be revolutionary and fun. I am a bit concerned that HackerStrike is the only multiplayer out of the box. They released it the other day and people are already cheating. They even had to shut down ladder matches. I tell you what gaming on the internet is gettting harder and harder. |

in the more expensive packages they have more multiplayer options aka DoD:Source or TeamFortress2 or something....all i want is HL2 and CS:Source on CD, steam is horrible.
There will always be hackers in a game....unfortunately.... |

I would like to have HL2 on DVD but paying 30 more is a little much. Between Halo 2, buying Xbox Live, and HL2 I am going to be very poor this November. So I am getting teh regular flavor HL2 & CS:S on CD.
Anyone know how I as the original owner of many games can combine my for example 5 Far Cry discs on to one DVD? I hate loading up all those discs. |
