Yea it would be fly. I know programs like alcohol (sumphin sumphin) will allow you to back up discs. I just would like to consolidate all my discs to one DVD.

UT2k4 SE had all cd's as separate directories named CD1-6 on the cd.
I'm sure FC did the same.
The only problem is the damned (useless, annoying) copy-'protection' that's on your play-disc (usually the last disc in the set).
The good news is that programs like Alcohol 120% can create working virtual cd's of those non-cd's.

// Nem1611
I doubt they are going to give away TF2 for free.
It was supposed to be a separate program as soon as we got TFC as a freebie to keep us busy while TF2 was in production.

// Sheesh why do they always have to complicate shit?
Information = power = more money
That's why they even want the tiniest scrap of info that you 'want' to provide.

More complicated Half-Life stuff has been posted on the HL2World forum...

I've had a second source confirm from Valve that the Internet (and Steam) is needed to get the Single Player RETAIL game going. Here's the message (it's from Valve Support via the Web and so there are no email headers etc.)

Hello,
"Will it require setting up a STEAM account so that the game can be authenticated ONLINE at install time? (and then play OFFLINE)"

Exactly, this is how the game will be 'activated'.

Most people are happy with this. But many other people are going to have to be educated on the subject, especially Retail (i.e. the shop assistants who will have to cope with the "I cannot get the f*cking game to run" questions.)

That is super ghey.

All versions will require steam to play the single player game. Which has put this fine quality game on my backburner. I am going to focus my resources on Halo 2 and Xbox Live. Yes I will eventually buy HL2 but not anytime soon. I don't like this new evolution of copyright protection.

I think I just might have to rant this Friday. Very Happy

i use to work in retail and had to deal with people like this....

most people are idiots with computers (except gamers, IT peeps, and being who actually work on computers) but when they buy the game from the retail store they probably wont realize that u need the internet to even player single player (which is super gay). so instead of calling support for the game aka sierra or valve, they will bother the retail stores which they bought there game from thinking its faulty merchandise. hate it when dumbasses use to bother us when it says the requirements on the box.

(sorry for ranting)
