Gimpy, why bother asking Epic that? I can answer your questions and I don't know shit from Korn Flakes. Or any other brand of cereal for that matter.

1* Yes, they're obviously sticking to the sports theme. They've said that several times before.
2* Yes. Oh... You were expecting them to say "No"? Riiiight...
3* There were never public betas in the Unreal Franchise. I'm sure you don't mean a Demo because that's been answered already in this thread.

My bad, yes I meant demo. Wink
As far as the gap between the demo(s) and the actual game, Tycho just assumes that they will learn from their mistakes.

And yes, I would hope they give an honest answer concerning the maps seeing as how the majority of them are complete garbage. It'll only hurt them in the long run.....(look at current situation UT2k3 is in). They've worked in the industry long enough to know the difference between crap(Plunge(spelling)) and good(Antalus).

And I really doubted they would go back to the UT universe, I just wanted to ask as in last hopes to get rid of the idiotic sports them and even more ridiculous player designs....IMO of course. Razz

I got off my lazy but and registered! Wheres my cookie!?

I dont have any really good questions - I do have some fine and dandy suggestions that you can hand over to epic/de...

heres the questions first...

Q: Will there be better quality CTF maps for UT2004? Since the CTF comunnity is probably one (if not, the) biggest part of the UT franchise! The CTF maps for UT2003 were good looking, but with the new moves incorporated into UT2003 - they are very crammped! So in UT2003.. they suck really bad, the only good map out of the box was Orbital2!

Q: Will there be mutators to remove dodge jumping/ double jumps/ wall dodges? Since some people just cant let got of UT (What can ya say.. its a great game!) Maybe if you added in these mutators, people will be more inclined to play...

well, thats it for now Confused

really tired

No, they're purposely making crap this time around instead of doing it accidentally. Razz

I like the second idea though, but isn't there already a mutator out there that will do that? Would be interesting for them to include a "Classic UT Moves" mutator, then see how many servers use that compared to the normal 2k3 movement.

My only question is, will you fix the lifts in UT2K4? Lifts are extremely flakly in this game, if you stand on them wrong they might take off without you or sort of flip out and you can fall through it. Or if you stand underneath one it may flip out as well. While this isn't a HUGE issue because with care all these problems can be avoided, sometimes in the middle of a fire fight they will happen and screw things up.

Please fix 'em! Confused

I've ran into that sometimes...

If you jump right as the lift takes off sometimes you will go through it and land under the lift and have to wait for it to go back down...

That's kindof one of those obvious things, if the bug is known about, it's probably going to be fixed. Infact, that has been addressed on several occasions on various news sources I subscribe to, and all point to the same statement. "Releaseing something with an obviously known bug, is not exactly what companies strive for".

So to answer that inquiry, yes, the known bugs should be fixed. Not sure if it's known? Perhaps you should submit a bug report to Epic in regards to it.

If you go thru the proper channels for submitting a bug, yes, I believe it would make the bug known.

For most of the linux-based bugs, we've got a bugzilla running on the website that we can use to submit and keep track of the bugs. I'm not sure about engine-related issues, however, there has to be some formal line of submission.

Maybe, because I personally know a lot of players who won't play online, they will enhance the performance and gameplay for the people who play on lans and just against bots ( improved AI) because the online experience is just too difficult for those of us who just have dialup internet. I don't care who says what, I have tried to play online with numerous servers, what looks like good ping ends up with you just being fragbait for the frag of it. I've been blasted by poor players and good players on lan games, and the feel just isn't the same as joining a server that looks like you should be able to play on it, and when you get there, you are frozen and the other players are able to blast you to bits while you can't move. At least when I have a lan party, we are for the most part on equal footing and even a slow machine has some chance against the rest of us. That's what I was referring to when I mentioned better bot AI. I know a good number of people that will play the game, but their internet connection wouldn't support a fair game. There also seems to be a shame that noobs shouldn't be slagged so severely, the game should separate the better players from the less qualified to allow some degree of fairness. I know most people should be somewhat adult about the game, but I also know that some players only think that they are good, but don't have any experience to back that thinking. If the program forced the A I to test the players level, and / or monitored the match quality during the game, that would allow people to get in matches that should be more equal.

I did talk with Steve Polge about AI and offline play. That reminds me I am supposed to email him about CTF bots.

Shocked

Hope it isn't too late already...

Q: Will the European version of UT2004 be a multilingual version again, thus making it highly probable that the game will be banned again shortly in Germany, or will there be a seperate German version like there was for Unreal 2?

Now that one's pretty important to me, because if there's going to be a seperate German version, I'll have to get the English one imported somehow Smile
