Personally I thought it was atmospheric and diverting for a few days, and good for a blast or two, but certainly no challenge for Max Payne 2's single-player crown. Really they should have focussed more on multiplayer; they've known for a long time that D3 would have to compete with Half-Life 2, which has always been touted as being primarily a single-player product. It's been a long time since we've had a totally new deathmatcher (UT2003 was the last proper one; UT2004 added bits to an established formula), Doom 3 online play could have been a big success.
Oh well!
I don't think it's a good idea to brand it as "suck" before you've actually played it though, some setups are just buggy with some games. I've had trouble running Unreal Tournament on every one of my comps over the years but I waited till I could solve the bugs before deciding on whether it was bin material. |

ok i rolled back my driver for my vid card and its seems to be steady for a bit now....
we'll see after a decent playtest.... |

after playing it i still think it coulda been better..... After the first level i could almost always predict where the monsters would come out (granted 5.1 surround sound helped a bit....) but it did give me some freaked out moments.
It was an EXCELLENT visual game, but the gameplay still needed some work. Defenetly creepy when u play it at 1am with the lights out. so i guess it will get some more playtime after all! |

I keep hearing Yawn talk about how good Max Payne 2 is. I might just need to borrow my friends copy. I don't see how it could be better than FarCry though. |

max payne rocks, nice looks, hot girl, nice nice very sweet storyline.
its a bit old already, so dont go compating it to the Doom3 engine and stuff. but its very slick! |

I also found the game a bit repetitive and it didn't have the huge battles I remember from Doom and Doom 2. This is mostly because of the massive amount of detail they put into the monsters. It'd be hard to ahve a lot of them on the screen at once.
Either way I really don't think anyone can deny the incredible visuals it has.
I was severely dissappointed with the end. I thought it was waaaay too easy. |
