When you purchase Half-Life 2 via Steam, Valve will be giving you an option of backing up your file to a DVD. Here is what Doug at Valve had to say on the offical Steam forums:

This is exactly the option I have been looking for. Since the DVD version of Half-Life 2 runs about $79.99 I may just pick up the Steam version and save some cash. I hope more games follow suit and allow online downloading and DVD backup. |
