yah thats what i do also, but those are an extremely large copy (gotta have a HD the size of your other one) and most people dont have that.
but your right, doing ghost at the beginning of a fresh install with all the drivers/patches/updates freshly installed before all that spyware/other crap gets installed onto your pc is a VERY good thing |

but.. i got northon ghost.
so i must format everything, then instal windows, then all my software like norton and microsoft office and stuff, then put all my data on to (bout 40 GB of files)
then run the ghost.
but that will need a 60 GB DVD-RW disc..
or 13 normal DVDs (RWs)
another question:
i got a 200 GB hard disk, i heared that you cant just put it in and format it, since windows wont reconige it.. so how should i do it then? |

Why, worked for me. WinXP, plugged it in, quickformat, no problems. |

As far as backing up, I keep windows on a separate 10gb partition, and put everything else on a different partition. Progs that need a registry entry (2k4, I'm talking about you!), I just add in manually after the reinstall. |

i dont understand thataboutt the registry? when you instal a game or prog it automaticly adds the registry keys in.
and i was just told that partitions is bad.couse it needs to read other parts etc. better to take separate discs?
