hmmmm
Quakecon got big even with and old game engine... the community made the event grow.
Now unreal fans know their comunity isnt as big as the quake one is and its a good thing to try to make it even bigger with huge a** kicking events. As a Quake fan i say that a big Unreal event would be damm nice to develop de community/compagnies interest in the game... but 1 thing need to be changed... The name. im kinda scared it will start more shit between the Quake vs Unreal kid's stuff.
Finally i just wanna add something i havent read the previous posts and i dont know if it was already discussed but i dont think id software will allow who ever will make a Unrealcon use that name... now make a big pool/forum thread to find an original name for the Unreal event
i never visit that site so it u guys whant to post replys dont try to talk to me...
if u have something to tell me important (who know) just e-mail me @ num3rik4l@hotmail.com

Black Fish,
There is no age requirements.
Num,
The name isn't going to be Unreal Con. We will have a contest. HOWEVER Id coudln't sue shit because a Con is short for CONvention and they would have to sue everyone who uses it i.e. GenCON, DefCon and on and on.
Don't worry I am going to have a naming contest.

Actually, I talked in passing about holding one up here in the great white north west.... If there's enough interest, I'd do it.
It'd prolly be in the Spokane, Washington area for those willing to make the trip, and who knows, might do a "east coasties versus west coasties" event.... that'd prove interesting (of course, we all know the west coast would 0wn)
If your interested, drop me a message or email, I'll talk to Tycho and see if we can't get a dual-location idea setup...
Anythings possible! |

I would definatly like to come but I live all the way in utah. It's a VERY long drive all the way to ohio, and it would take several days. I also probably coudln't miss school. Unless it was done during a break I wouldn't be able to come. I would suggest doing it during the christmas vacation like 1 or 2 weeks before christmas, or in the summer.
On another note we have a large lan (100+) every month in utah ( protocol42.com ) I think it'd be easy to use this as a meeting event for the western ut2k3ers. |

TWD,
We are working very hard to make it on or around everyone's spring break so they can come.

whops sorry last post was me. Just delete the post by guest please.
I have spring break on March 15-19. When does everyone else have it?
I'd really like to come especally if I can get the guys from the beyondunreal forums to come with me. It would really suck if it didn't work with my schedule |

I will have a thread soon that will ask for everyone's spring break so we can get a better idea of the date. Thanks for posting yours though.

Sounds like a really great thing Tycho, good luck
If I ever manage to scratch up enough money to make it there all the way from Germany, I'd definitely come... however, I doubt it
As for suggestions... I've never ever been to a comparable event yet, so I have no idea what could be done... but chatting with the Devs would rock, especially for mappers or modders! Don't forget the creative part of the community, ok? You could hold a little mapping contest for example, or something like that... or convince some of Epic's LDs to endure our neverending questions and suggestions smilingly |
