So as Raven mentioned the other day the ATI IRC chat has come and went.  Overall I was very disappointed in the way they answered their questions.  They basically didn't say anything solid on the important issues.  However this may be because of all of the fuss about NVidia's tactics and comments that they were being politcally correct with everything.  I did manage to get one Unreal related question in.Tycho: Your latest release of the Catalyst drivers featured improved performance in UT2003. With over 10 Unreal Engine games coming out over the next year are you going to continue on this path?

Joe_3DCube: We are always looking at performance boosts, and we prefer that they apply to more than just one game.Um ok that is all he is going say about it?  The UE is the most used gaming engine in the industry right now.  You would think they would have a little more to say about it.

Maybe it means they aren't focusing on "enhancing" the drivers to "load optimal settings" when certain applications/games are launched... unlike some other companies who have tried it recently... (although yes, ATI did have their hand in the cookie jar quite some time ago)...

I would think they are more concentrated on overall improvements, as most people don't stick to just single engine specific games.

ATI still has their hand in the cookie jar. I don't know of any video card manufacturer that doesn't tweak their cards to popular games rather than to benchmarks these days. And don't say nVidia, because it's not true. Those tweaks for more than just the benchmarking program. IMO 3DMark03 is gay trash anyways and ought to stay locked in the rubbish bin.
